Pocket Loop Trail at Pigeon Mountain

Today we hiked the Pocket Loop Trail on Pigeon Mountain. This is a long shot of the waterfall.

You can't see it very well, but they have a handicap deck. It didn't look like it went all the way to the falls, but is a scenic walk nonetheless.

Carter's Lake

We walked today at Carter's Lake in Chatsworth, Georgia. The part we walked around used to be a quarry. We thought this rock was was interesting.

Chickamauga Creek Gorge

Today, we hiked at the Chickamauga Creek Gorge. One of the most beautiful places we've seen yet!

Rocks and water. Always a favorite of mine.

First time we've seen rushing water that looked bluish green. Beautiful.

We walked the Bald Rock Trail again this past weekend. With my health problems now, we don't get to do much hiking. I sure do miss it so was really glad to be able to go on a short one.

Noccalula Falls park in Gadsden, Alabama

Top of Noccalula Falls. This is the biggest waterfall we've seen in Alabama so far.

New church they use for weddings at Noccalula Falls. It would be a beautiful setting for a wedding with the falls not 50 feet from the church.

Shoal Creek Church Hike

Shoal Creek Church hiking trail. The sign offers information about the history of the church.
The actual church is still in pretty good condition. They did redo the roof with a metal one. Every Labor Day, singings are still held at the church.

Coleman Lake Trail

Pretty yellow flower bunch along the trail around Coleman Lake in the Talladega National Forest.

Pretty white flowers that grow alot here.

The path we walked on was nice and smooth. A 1.9 mile hike around the lake that is good for beginners and old hand hikers alike.

Chinnabee Trail

The Chinnabee trail is located in Talladega National Forest in Alabama. It is about 20 minutes from Anniston. This is one of the easier trails, although there is a little hill climbing involved.

The Cave Creek trail is located in the Talladega National Forest. We did the first half of the trail, which is very easy. The first half is all flat land and would be a good trail for beginners.

As you can see there is some trash beside the mushroom.
We picked up quite a bit of rubbish off the trail.
I can't understand why people throw stuff down like that!

These are some pictures from the trails we've done here
in Alabama so far. We have hiked the Chinnabe, Nubbin Creek
and some of the Pinhoti so far. One difference we have noticed
between trails in Alabama and the ones we used to do in Georgia
is that the ones here are not as well maintained. But, they are still
passable and offer great exercise opportunities and photo ops!
